Hello family in utah!!!!!!
sounds like everything is going well in your neck of the woods. I am sorry to hear that you are all falling apart and that you dont have DR. ADAMS there to take care of you. But that is ok. I know that the Lord is still watching over you. You are in my prayers.
As for me this week it has been going great. I am perfectly healthy happy and loving doing the work of the Lord. Actually not totally healthy on transfer day i stubbed my toe on elder wilcoxsons suitcases and i think i was pretty close to breaking my toe. It immediately swoll (that is not the right form of swelling i know but i dont know what it is ) up and then an hour later it was full of a good purple blood. But its all good now. Mom that means do not, I repeat, do not call or email or contact Sister or President condie about it. They already have lots of stuff to worry about and keep them busy and that also means my toe is fine. We Elder Hansen and I have been working really hard this week. But In the way of illnesses Elder Hansen has a couple. He has had a concussion in the past and so that makes it so that he has really bad headaches all the time. So whenever he is in pain we have to come inside and he has to lay down. He gets a little angry and he is short tempered when he is in pain too. I love him anyway. Its ok i get in more study time and i can call people and set up appointments. So he is a transfer younger than me and so that is super cool. I am still pretty young on my mission as well and so the young power is going to be rockin` bamberg!!!!! But the headaches hold us a little bit back but i dont blame him for that. We just gotta take what we are given, run with it and love it and work as hard as we can.
We had stake conference this week and president Uchtdorf came to berlin and spoke to the entire german speaking countries. There was a broadcast and that was so amazing. They announced that they were going to consecrate the land of Germany to the Lord because they had not consecrated it since East and West Germany were reunited. So president uchtdorf got the responsibility to do that. I cant Wait till the magazine comes out with the consecration prayer in it that he said so that i can read it. but at this stake conference he told the members that they need to take the burden of finding for missionary work into thier own hands. It was so powerful. They talked about power in the priesthood that we hold. and that we need to be better stronger more faithful members here in the German Speaking realm because prophets from Joseph Smith to Spencer W. Kimball have prophesied of a time when there would be hundreds of stakes in the German region. It will come to pass. I know it. I felt it in President Uchtdorfs voice. His German Speaking voice. That was so cool to listen to the conference in german. I understood all of it. The spirit was so strong. I took lots of notes.
Well not a lot of time today. We went to a castle today and it was awesome. Brother wolf, our ward mission leader took us there and we got a tour. I love germany it is so beautiful, especially because it is changing back to spring. kind of. Green is starting to pop out from underneath the snow and the weather is coming back out of the negatives. It is a great and wonderful life to be on a mission and i am greatful everyday for the opportunity to be here. Thank you all for your love and support.
ELDER ADAMS
ps yes i got the valentines card thank you very much you spongebob nerds! i loved it.

February 15, 2010

Wow. Well it looks like devin is anti-trunky! Ha ha there are some missionaries here that you can tell cant wait to get home and then there are others that just want to stay. There is a huge difference. But all that i have to say is that i want to stay enjoy the time i get to teach Gods children here and then just be a lifetime missionary afterwards, take the skills that i have learned and then apply them to my life. With being called as a missionary there is also a release date. That is something that i have learned. Although we may not like it it must come and that is ok. Hey you should forward this to devin. This is sounding pretty good. I am recieving inspiration right here on the spot, as i type away and eat a dellicious piece of German Chocolate. Anyhow with the calling there also comes a release date, however that is not a problem or anything to fear or dread about that only means that you make the world your mission. When somebody later on asks you about where you got your mission call to, you answer with the somewhat boastful and proud answer of "Planet Earth, the Greatest mission in the World". If we constantly work at showing our love and our appreciation to our brothers and sister here that are co-inhabitors of this wonderfull world that God gave us then we will constantly see the blessings of missionary work in our lives and those around us as we bring the Gospel to them. That is my promise to you and lots of joy awaits you as you embark on bringing others to the Gospel of Christ.
So... now that my preaching is done for a few moments and before i continue with recieving revelation i would like to be jealous. Devin gets to go to the tempel!!!!!! What? So jealous. We dont have a temple close to us and so I am really missing the temple. That is gonna be the first thing i do when i get home. I am going to go to the temple and spend a good 40 days and 40 nights there if you know what i mean!
Gratulieren!!!!!! Das ist bestimmt wunderbar! Gut gemacht!!!!! Those are congratulations in german exclamation for your wonderful work on conquering your tests at jet blue. I am so proud of you mom. I love you. Keep it going you know you've got my prayers.
Well i havent as of yet recieved your card for valentines day but that is because it is fasching here. It is basically like halloween or carnival in america. People dress up as clowns cowboys and other wierd mythical creatures ride around on horses and party really hard. So mail is probably a little slowed down.
As for me.... I am doing wonderful!!!!!!! The snow has been falling, the main river that runs through Bamberg is completely frozen, it is cold here. Elder Wilcoxson is being transferred to Würzburg. I am staying here and becoming senior companion. I dont even know what senior companion is. Eh nothing that i will waste to much time with. WE will work in unity Elder Hansen and I. It will be a grand and glorious ol time. Ich freue mich darauf!!!!! (that means i am excited)
This week has been amazing. we have started something in our ward called a 40 day fast. That means that 40 different members will fast consecutively for one day each and thus constituting a 40 day fast. they are fasting and praying for the mission work here in Bamberg. And its working!!!!!!! We have seen so much success since this fast has begun. We have found many new investigators. we have been Teaching better and helping the investigators we have make progress. tis absolutley AMAZING! We found a family they are so amazing. His name is Alec and his wifes name is Natasha. They have two boys and they are super stoked about the Gospel. Once again pray for them that they will be able to find the right way and hopefully enter into the covenant of baptism. Another cool story is that we found a girl named Verena. She is 24 and she loves theology as a topic to just talk about. She had never had a belief in God before though. But that changed this week. We had an amazing appointment with her where she was trying to teardown all that our church was about. Book of Mormon, prophets apostles, and i was almost done but i had a strong impression to just bear testimony of the savior and then to share a scripture. After i had done such with the authority that my calling holds the spirit of the Lord came over her and i could see a change in her face. she felt it. Then our joint teach (Brother Wolf our Ward Mission Leader) continued from Where i left off and she was so impressed. I can see a mighty change of heart working in her. Please pray for her as well. Teaching and bearing testimony are some of the greatest feelings in the world. I love it!!!
We have an investigator that is praying about a baptismal date. Her name is svetlana. Im EXCITED about that. (<----Did you see that? I wrote that in caps) The work here is going great. I am doing great. i am healthy and about at the weight i was before the mtc. i am now 148. I think its because of the cold. But its really awesome i still eat like a horse. the other day at our mission team meeting i ate 3 knödel, 2 rouladen, a helping of rotkohl and semmel brötchen. I am awesome. well if you have any questions for me then you can just shoot away. I understand about the shoes. I will send you pics in the mail. and a description and documentation and a wiaver and a t-90 paper to cover the taxes. just kidding. I made about 90 percent of that up but i will send you pics. LOve you all. Have a merry week and know that i love you all so very much.
ELDER ADAMS!!!!!!!! peace out!!!!!!!

THose are gross!!!!!!!!!! ew! ultimate yucky. well i no longer am hungry. just kidding im always hungry! cool!!!!

February 8, 2010

The reason that you did not get my email till about mid week is because there was a problem with the delivery system on My LDS mail. It had to keep re sending and re sending during the week. So that is how it eventually got to you. So that was my email from last week.
That was a picture of BOTH my black and brown pair of shoes. I told you that before. I think the ecco shoes have a defect or something because BOTH pairs have that crack that comes in the sole right where the support ends. Remember when the guy sold them to us. He said that sometimes he has seen the case where the shoes break where the support ends and that we can just send them in when that happens. So to make sure that you understand, BOTH PAIRS, black and brown are broken. they just cracked at the point where my foot bends. If you cant get them replaced i will live. But i just feel bad that we paid 200 dollars for each pair of shoes and then a year later they broke.
AS for the package. Yes i recieved the package this week. Thank you so so so so much. I will get the scarf to Elder Ensign as quick as possible. Thanks for the charger. um i will charge my navi and then see if i can use it. i know the city pretty well already, i also know the bus lines pretty good. THat is a good thing too. I am grateful for a pretty keen sense of direction, because at interviews president condie told Elder Wilcoxson that "you need to make sure that ELder adams knows the city pretty good because you will not be here".
The reason why Elder wilcoxson will not be here next transfer is because a member of our ward has the hots for him. She told him on a phone call that she loves him and so he will be transferred, on transfers next week. The reason why he was Emergency transferred is because she is on vacation right now and so she cant get to him. She just calls us all the time. Its pretty funny. Being a missionary is tough. Being a set apart full time missionary means that you have the mantel of Christ, and i suppose that makes us irresistable to the opposite sex. Its ok though i make sure to use a lot of onions in my omelette in the morning.
As for the mission change. So there is a chance that i will be changed to the new mission. If I am still in the Nürnberg stake by july 1st then that means that i will be "adopted" into the Hamburg germany mission and that i wont be able to serve any more in the munich germany austria switzerland mission. So there is a chance to serve under president condie still when the change comes or i could completely serve in a different mission. Either way its the same work. so i am not going to worry to much about it. I love president condie and that would make me super happy to continue serving under him for the rest of my mission, but i will go forth with a willing heart and a willing mind and just remember that i am serving Him who is over this all. That is always a cool thought. I am working for God! THis is the greatest job EVER!!!!
As for your work it sounds like it is going good. I am proud of you and that all is going well. Tue es wieter!!!!! (that means keep going) Thanks for all your support mom, even when the work gets tough.
Speaking of tough work i have learned a lot this week about hard work. Elder Wilcoxson was having some real struggles. It seemed like he had lost the will to keep working and to keep on going. He and i had a serious talk in the church one evening, because the thoughts he was having was really distracting him from the work. tHey had been distrracting him for the past couple of days and that led to him not really even wanting to work. So i felt like i was doing everything for that time that he was not wanting to work. That is why when we were out working i just stopped him and told him that he needed to talk to me. He needed to tell me what was going on. We went to the church and sat down and had a good hour talk where he just opened up. He cried a lot and shared a lot of personal thoughts and things that he was feeling at this time, because the work has been going very hard. I had the opportunity to talk to him about all of this and i helped him as best as i could. After our talk i had the opportunity to give him a blessing. It was really amazing. I felt the spirit of the Lord working through me. It was literally telling me the things that i should say to bring him comfort and help at this time. It was such a wonderful experience for me, as well as for Elder Wilcoxson, because we are now closer together through it. He is now doing much better. And we are working as hard as possible, because that is the greatest remedy for the troubled mind. at least I have found that. The work is tough right now, but we are pushing through. We are the ones that can make it better. It depends on what we do and when we give all that we can the Lord will give us all that He has, but not untill we do so. I have a true knowledge of that and that is what i would like to share with you this week.
Mensch, i love this email thing. I wasnt done with that last one and then it sent to you. but i just wanted to tell you all that i love each and everyone of you dearly. You mean everything to me and I would do anything for each and everyone of you. May God bless you as you go about your personal endeavors this week this is my prayer that you may do it in safety and a spirit of joy, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

This is an e-mail from today from Elder Adams:

Dear Sister Adams,

I finally was able to talk with Elder Adams this morning and asked him to send you two pictures on Monday, one of each pair of shoes, showing the damage to the souls.  I asked him to label each picture with the color of the shoes.  He said he would do so.  Let me know if there is still a problem.

Personally, I believe the cause of the shoe damage is because he is one of the hardest-working missionaries we have. :)  You can be very proud of him--he is such a fine young man with a wonderful attitude and work ethic, great enthusiasm and a strong testimony.  He is also kind and positive with everyone.  Thank you for all you have done to help make him what he is today.  We are so grateful for him and we love him dearly.

February 1, 2010

ok so i know that this is in german but what it basically says is that the 5 existing misssions in the german speaking area here of the Lords vineyard will be condensed into 3 missions. They have been slowly over time making the amount of missionaries in our mission smaller and that means that we have bust it harder than ever to bring those unto Christ here. We need your prayers more than ever as we go about this work. This is really crazy. This is a huge change. in this email that i attached from president condie about this change there are two other attachments hopefully they got sent to you. They explain it a little bit better in English and there are also a picture of the new missions that will be here in Germany Switzerland and Austria. WOW!!!!!

My Beloved Missionaries,

Words cannot adequately express my affection for you and appreciation for your greatness. I believe you were there as the noble and great intelligences were shown to Abraham in the premortal world. Along with all the people you have influenced for good, many of whom have entered the waters of baptism, received the gift of the Holy Ghost and are on the path that leads to eternal life, I express my gratitude for your faithfulness, your diligence and most certainly for your obedience.
Like you, all great servants of the Lord learn early to follow the direction received from their leaders and to do so with faith. Nephi said to his father, “I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them” (1 Nephi 3:7).
The Savior himself did the will of the Father, in spite of personal preferences. On the Mount of Olives as he prepared to suffer His infinite atonement he prayed, saying, “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42).Keeping in mind this willingness to do what the Lord commands, last week I enthusiastically received from the Europe Area Presidency a letter in which they announced the formation of three new missions from the five existing German-speaking missions. A map showing the boundaries of the new missions is enclosed.
This change is to take effect on 1 July 2010. On that date two of the current mission presidents, President Matern of the Switzerland Zurich Mission and President Thompson of the Germany Hamburg Mission, will be released as usual, each having served valiantly in his respective mission for three years. Presidents Ninow (Frankfurt), Pimentel (Berlin) and I will continue to serve here.
The new mission over which President Pimentel will preside includes six stakes and two districts in northern Germany. President Ninow will preside over five stakes and one district in central Germany. His mission will include the Nürnberg Germany Stake.
The Brethren have designated my field of labor to include the Vienna and Salzburg Austria Stakes; the St. Gallen, Zürich and Bern Switzerland Stakes; and the Stuttgart and Munich Germany Stakes. For this opportunity I am grateful, but it is, indeed, an increased stewardship; and, of course, I am saddened to realize that I will no longer closely associate with some of our outstanding missionaries and the great members and leaders in the Nürnberg Stake.
Although many details regarding this change have yet to be determined and announced, of this one thing I am certain: to establish the Church within this new mission will require the consecrated efforts of everyone involved: members, missionaries and mission president. This requirement has not changed! This we strive to do in our great Germany Munich/Austria Mission!
The Area Presidency explained the reason for the consolidation of missions and redrawing of boundaries as follows: “This move will not affect the role of the missionaries. It is a positive move as the Church continues to expand throughout the earth and as ward and stake leaders and members take a more active role in missionary work.” Therefore, I encourage each of us to remain focused on our purpose to invite all to come unto Christ. Without interruption we shall continue to find, teach and baptize our Father’s children who are prepared to receive the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
That the Lord will bless our efforts as we serve Him with all our heart, might, mind and strength is my prayer as I remain
Your fellow servant,

Robert G. Condie

tell devin that yes schnitzel is breaded meat that has been fried. that we are rollin it here in Bamberg with busses, but mostly with feet, and that what we cook is pure deliciousness. knödel. rotkohl. blaukraut. stir fry. salads. ect.
