Hey hey hey,
Well sorry that i haven't written in about 3 weeks. i dont know even how long it has been. Sorry. We have just been super busy. We have had such an awesome time. I love Elder Baird. he works so hard. He is really so good and we are going to see so much success together. we set two baptismal dates and we are finding lots of new people to teach. I wont tell you too much because we will be talking on the 25th of December in the year of our Lord 2010 at approximately 1900 hours my time 11 o clock in the A.M. your time. I have lots to tell you about how we've been in zürich, bern, stuttgart, St. Gallen and München of course and then next week we are off to zone conferences in salzburg and Wien. we have traveled so much with the condies and it is so great. I havent read your email yet im just writing. hope you have a great evening. I look forward to talking with ya. Lovies!!!!!

Liebe Leut',
Servas! Hay well this week was mega intense. Wicked busy is what we have been and i believe it will only get busyier. I dont know how to spell. Well i bet you never would have thought but i was able to go to switzerland. I got to do exchanges with the zürich zone leaders. I was able to work with Elder Baird, in Winterthur. That is such a wonderful city. I also got to work with elder simon again. He came from wien to work with us here and we had another wonderful exchange. i love working with so many great Elders. We had mission council this week. and mission tour last week. Mission tour is where a member of the 70 comes and teaches us. Elder Tiexiera came and taught us. He spoke a lot about obedience, which is sad. I learned a very cool meaning of the parable of the talents. The parable of the talents is how the Lord was trying to teach the disciples of that time and in our time about Leadership. When we are given something to do (a talent/an area/ a calling) then we are supposed to return it back to him with an increase. The Lord is not satisfyed with the status quo and that is why he expects great things from us. I Learned a lot more in addition to that. Mission council on the other hand is where we get all the zone leaders gathered together and they come here to munich and we and president condie get to teach and talk to them about how we can help the mission. It was so amazing. We had a prophetic time. Talking and setting plans into action to help the missionaries in the whole mission reach the potential that they can reach. It was great.
I sent pictures of my shoes. they are the new ones you sent to me. The black ones i did not get repaired because they are not totally broken yet but they are well on their way because they are also starting to crack. The Brown new ones i got repaired and they are good now. i can walk in them. They were splitting all the way through but the repair man back in wien glued and sewed the crack shut and then put a new sole on it and it is pretty decent.
elder Christensen is my companion. We are having a good time. We dont come to taking too many pictures here is the only one of us so far.
This week is also transfers, we had to plan that with president condie, and tomorrow we will be calling all of the elders and sisters that will be going. That was lots of business, and then in a couple of weeks we will be having zone conferences and that will be intense 7 zones in a couple of weeks. that will be a little bit of planning, but im stoked. I hope i stay and i hope all is well with you.
I got a package from The ward. That was super great Tell everybody thank you. That really made my day and the candy brightened the lives of little children in the ward. I ate it too. we had a party. there are so many adventures and stuff that we have done and experiences that we have had but it is time to go. ya'll can read my journal sometime later. so president condie lives in the mission home which is a street away. We live in an apartment that is attached to the mission office its a pretty decent apartment. Thanks for the email. I dont really need anything. I almost froze my toes off the other day i was on exchange in switzerland (by the way the cheese and chocolate is amazing there) and we did some street contacting for a couple of hours... ya i wear my boots all the time now. speaking of cheese, we buy a new exotic cheese every week. there have been some bad ones and some good ones. but we are becoming cheese connisuers. Thanksgiving went great. we ate at the institute center with all the young single adults. It was ok. they tried to cook for too many poeple and the food got cold but we also got invited to an american member families house and that was also good. We met their neighbors and that was the coolest part because we got to do missionary work. I love being a missionary!!!!!

Family,

All is well. Super stressed, lots to get done. but i love it. I have really really learned the meaning of serving, and forgetting yourself in the work. I have absolutely no time for myself. I love it. i cannot write long today i wrote a little too long last time and that put us behind in getting the records done for President condie. He is amazing by the way. he came on a joint teach with us yesterday. What a great example. We had a really great week. I called a lot of people in the car. We have a car in this area. which reminds me i will be ordering a drivers licencse here in germany. They are lifetime drivers license so that is a plus. another positive thing is that i dont have to take any tests written or practical they will just translate my utah license however i have to pay 100 euro from personal money so that is a bummer. So if you could also transfer money from my savings that would be great. well to answer your question little tidbits sent during the week will do you no good. i only get to check my mail on p day and that is usually only for 20 or so minutes.

The work is moving forward here as i said i called a lot of people and they wanted to meet with us. I dont know why not before but ya. We got a few more appointments this week and im stoked to get even more to become even more busy. . We were in salzburg this week. I got to work with Elder Foremaster. He is awesome. What a great zone leader. it will be great. I love you all have a wonderful week.

Mother, Family, Friends, beloved,

Well its is a really new adjustment. The first week after a transfer is always a little tough. To get to know the new area, the investigators, and the apartment. Our apartment was super messy when i got here. I cannot handle untidyness, the spirit doesnt and cant live there. We are so busy with so much stuff that i hardly had the chance to unpack and get my stuff in order. but after a couple of days i got it done, now i will be able to get into the groove of things. dont expect too detailed emails from me from now on. I am emailing you at 6:30 in the morning. I found out that as an assistant we dont really get a p-day because we have so much to do. We get this time in the morning about a half an hour to get emails to president and family and everything else done. and then maybe an hour later today when we get everything done.

I love it here. I am really going to learn the meaning of serving. i had a really cool experience my first day here. no wait it was on the second day. I dont know the time is so messed up. anyhow. The first day a sister got on the wrong train somewhere and she got lost so we had to stress out and get that all sorted out, so that she wouldnt be alone and so that she would be safe. President is so amazing. Before we all started running around to get that figured out, he called everyone in the office together and said we are going to need all of your faith. We kneeled down and he offered such an amazing prayer. You can really tell he just talks with God. Second day, he called us into his office, and asked us to think for a minute about the mission, an then, "Elder Adams and Elder Christensen, what kind of Prophesies do you have for the mission, what is the mission going to become what is it going to look like." we had a couple of minutes to let the spirit of the Lord open our minds and our eyes and then we begann to Prophesy and develop how we wanted the mission to be. We have just between Elder Christensen and I we have the two main goals, To bring others to Christ, and To lift the mission.

Im stoked for all the work that lies ahead of me and there is a lot. The area that we are assigned to work in right now is not doing so hot investigator wise, however that is going to change we are going to tear it up and the members are already starting to like me here. We were able to meet with a couple of them and it is going to be great i have nothing but high hopes and dreams for here. have a great week. I love you all tons. cool fact: I was in the same MTC group as Elder Christensen but never thought that i would see him untill after the mission because he went to the swiss mission.

Beloved fellow Missionaries,

President Uchtdorf promised us six months ago that one of the Christlike attributes has the power to “heal souls, unlock treasures of knowledge and understanding, and transform ordinary men and women into saints and angels” as well as “deepen [our] happiness, focus [our] action and offer hope for peace and healing.”

What is this Christlike attribute?

Wait for it . . . wait for it . . .

Patience!

What is patience, and how can we reap the blessings that patience brings?

Preach my Gospel expounds on patience, clarifying it as the “capacity to endure delay, trouble, opposition, or suffering without becoming angry, frustrated, or anxious. It is the ability to do God´s will and accept His timing.” (PMG, p. 120)

President Uchtdorf says that true patience is more than just waiting. “Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with [your mission] and doing all that you can—working, hoping, and exercising faith, bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring, it is enduring well.” (“Continuing in Patience”, May 2010 Liahona)

The delay, trouble, opposition, and suffering will come to us, no matter what. Jenkins Lloyd Jones observed, “Life is like an old-time rail journey—delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.”

Let us remember whose Church this is, and whose missionaries we are. Jesus Christ leads this Church. Alma promised his son Helaman that “whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.” (Alma 36:3) The Savior will “strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand, upheld by [His] righteous, Omnipotent Hand!” (How Firm a Foundation, Hymn # 85)

“Therefore, dearly beloved [Missionaries], let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed” (D & C 123:17).

HELLO,

We did live off of scraps. but it went great last week. I already pretty much wrote you about that. the only thing new that happened between friday when we emailed you and monday when we emailed you is that we had an awesome saturday. we did service at a wonderful members house in the mountains. Wien doesnt really have mountains they are more like hills but anyway we were there in the WienerWald (vienna forest) and we got to rake leaves at his house. Brother Cornelius Cunia is his name. He is a really wonderfull man. He has such a super strong testimony. We raked and raked and ate then raked some more. I tell you what. I have the sickest amount of muskel kater. I dont know what that is called in englisch. its what you get when you work out really hard and then your musckels hurt really bad. i raked using my whole body because after the first hour my arms were dead and so my abs and everything else is super tight. Im not gonna lie though. it was good. I needed a good muscle toning workout. my abs look off the chain now. that was great. Then after that we had the opportunity to fast. I love fasting. I had a special purpose for fasting. As usual. however this time was different. I dont think i will share it because it is really special to me, but i can give testimony to the power of prayer and fasting. The Lord hears our cries. He is there to stand by us and support and succor us in our times of need.

And i suppose that he hears the prayers of president condie. He is really an inspired president and i trust in that. This trust and faith that he is an inspired president will help me through the next little bit. I have been humbled. President Condie called me up yesterday morning before church, which was weird we usually talk to him about the zone on tuesday and it is the middle of the transfer. However he called me up, and said, "ELDer adams i have a new calling for you. I want you to come to münchen and assist me." I have seen the missionaries who have been assistents to the president before adn they are all exemplary missionaries, and they end up getting really tired as assistents. I Hope that the Lord will help me in my new calling and help me to help others. I will tell you how it all goes. I leave for München on thursday. All i can say is that i really love wien. I have loved everyminute of it. I have made so many friends here. Felt the love here. Special experiences, have been given me here. I look forward with hope and faith to every opportunity that i get to move forward to learn more and to serve my God. Im excited, no i take that back im stoked outta my mind to help the mission move forward and to learn from president condie, a very inspired and spirt filled chosen servant of the Lord. oh sorry i forgot to anser to a couple of items in your email to me. I really dont need anything for christmas. im good on garments. deoderant as well. handwarmers im good. My joy is full. My cup runneth over as david the psalmist would so beautifully say it. i would just maybe need some money. my shirts are starting to get worn through where my backpack sits, as well as my pants but nobody sees that when i am wearing my suit which is still in pretty good condition. so maybe just some money to buy a shirt or two. my new address by the way if you want to send a package is the one for the mission office. Hallo leut!!!!!!

that is how the german people say whats up my peeps!! just kidding but almost. Thanks for writing me. I always appreciate getting mail. but it depends on what kind of mail. Email. Fan mail. those are the good kinds. junk mail. black mail. and other kinds like that are not good, but what can you do. according to 2 nephi 2.11 there has to be an opposition in all things. Im just glad that im blessed enough to get the good kind of mail. Speaking of mail. Grandma sent me just a letter. I doesnt have to have money in it for me to send her something good or nice in return. I love grandma. the thing is is that here in wien they are really stingy about me sending chocolate through the mail. im still trying to find a way around the system. just give me time im smart i will break it. i will get you a picture of the shoes sometime, that means when i get a camera to take a picture of my shoes, only then will i be able to send you the corresponding photos of evidence of the many kilometers walked. Ha ha that reminds me of a song i think it is called 500 miles by the proclaimers. it goes a little something like this:

Missionary work is amazing. and it is great to have fun with it as well. i have never found such a great joy in my entire life as i have here in wien and here and now. the joy of my mission just continues to build and i dont think it will ever stop. I hope that it just keeps going on and progressing just like the stone that was cut out of the mountain without hands. My joy will continue to roll on and continue forth until it has filled the whole earth.

This week sorry that the email didnt come untill today, friday the 5th, because this week on monday and tuesday there was a really catholic holiday called all saints day on monday and on tuesday there was one called all souls day. and then after that so on tuesday wednesday and thursday and we had an awesome leadership training meeting in the mornings with president and sister condie and that was great. We upped our skills on teaching and most importantly teaching with the spirit. I love the source of knowledge that president and sister condie are for us. they are so well experienced. it was really a great experience.

We went to munich again for a special zone leader conference also last week. that happens monthly now. I am getting really used to riding in trains and talking to people. We found an awesome familly last week they are coming to church and loving it and loving meeting with us. im super happy, except for the fact that elder simon and i have apparently ate something wrong or we need to change our diets. He has been consitpated for the past 6 days and i have had nothing but the runs. We are getting along pretty good. our apartment stinks cuz he just farts all the time. i feel like i should strap car air freshners around my nose. but we are working on getting along better. Nothing like being with someone 27 hours a day and 8 days a week to help prepare you for the awesomeness of etermal marriage.

Well that is about it for me. Halloween was great. the only piece of candy that i got was a stick of gum. it was the best piece of gum ever. thank you for your card. that was also nice. tell spencer to suck it up and to push the bone back in and keep running. Hello!!!! :)

I did not manage to get pictures of my shoes before they got repaired. I dont know if you read my email last time but i said that i had already taken them to get repaired before i sent you the email. but as you wish i will take a picture of the shoes now that they are repaired. I am also letting my camera get repaired still. He said that i dont need to pay again for it because he didnt fix it right the first time. so all is good there. The week went super great by us. We had a great time going to munchen for an exhchange. That was cool 10 hours in a train to go there and back for only 24 hours of work. Coolio. The assistents are really good and that was a great opportunity to work with them.

How was your week mom? did you start feeling better. Did you go to the chiropractor? Elder Simon also started to have bad back problems. I cracked his back with the twisty one and he cracked so bad. that was intense.

I got a card from grandma this week. Tell her thankyou and that i will be sending something back.

speaking of that you asked me at one point in time what i wanted for christmas. i want a hippopotomus for christmas. But then i thought about that a second and realized that i dont have a lot of room in my suitcases to carry around a hippopotomus so its ok if you dont send me anythin. Seriously. I am having to give stuff away to little kids on the street. not really but when it comes time for me to leave wien the flea markets will have an increase in economy and it will become a bull market.

Speaking of leaving wien..... IM STAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get another transfer here. I am so lucky. We are so blessed here in this area and i worked hard here to build it up and now that it is going the way that the Lord wants it to, its gotta stay that way and im going to give my best to do what the Lord wants here. So stoked. But i realized that as this transfer ended that my time here on my mission has become considerably shorter. Das mag ich nicht. das mag ich überhaupt nicht.

Anyhow we will not talk about it and hope that i can get an extension on my mission call. this week went great i was on exchange with elder ray we had a good time taught a really cool guy whose name is antonello. That was a really cool experience. I love teaching. There is nothing better than teaching. Oh wait i lied giving sincere heartfelt testimony is also my favorite. I have two favorites.

I just love serving the Lord. could there be anthing better than serving the One who loves us the most and who served us more than we could ever think of serving Him? I submit that there is nothing better. and with that i will end.

ps im not really done writing i just wanted that to be like a dramatic ending or like a grand finale type of thing. That is great that spencer had a great time at soccer awesomeness. that is really cool tell him congrats. tell brannen also congrats and that i wish him well. I wrote him a letter a while ago and i hope that he got it.

Wanna know something really cool i am a haircuting master. Elder simon will not pay for a haircut. so he has a haircutting machine and scissors, he just pushed them in my hands and said i trust you to go to town. I didnt really go to town. I went to chinatown. and then i came back and gave him a sweet lookin hairdo. it doesnt even look to shabby. I love all the experiences that i get to make here on my mission. I can now sew and cook and clean and cut hair and pop companions pimples for them when they cant reach those ones on their back. that might sound creepy and pretty gross "but no greater love hath man than this" to...... ya it was pretty wierd. well i think that that is all for me. hope ya´ll have a good week. Mom,

Mom I hope that you know that i always send prayers your way.

Ya the baptism was so great. The confirmation was even better. Heidi was crying the whole time. just smiling and crying. WE had a great week. We had a lot of lessons. I was pretty much on my own, because We had a couple of exchanges to do and because Elder simon got transfered in here about halfway through the transfer he didnt know our investigators and because of other previous exchanges he hasnt really had the chance to get to know them either. So i have been on exchange this week with other missionaries and ya. THe week didnt start out the way i wanted it too. Everything seemed to be going wrong. Heidi said that on monday and tuesday she felt way alone. She felt really confused and was wondering if this really was the path that she wanted to be going on. I visited her and called about half of the ward to repentance so that they would get into contact with the newest member of the ward and so that worked out pretty well. Since Elder simon was on exchange and i was working with other people who didnt know our area, i kindof took advantage of their readiness to just follow me around, (i know it sounds kind of mean but) it worked out pretty well. I planned out a couple of appointments or people that we could visit on each day and it worked out really great. So the week ended well. Because of Elder Ronna's willingness to just follow me around and do what i do, as well as Elder Blomquist, we had to run a bit to get to all of our appointments. i wanted to reach a goal of 15 lessons this week and we almost got it. I had a lot of appointments planned out with potential investigators who i had contacted in trains and busses and bahns and some of them went through and others didnt. I love the work. It s going great.

speaking of running and getting around as missionaries I think that no matter what kind of shoes i have they are all not made for the kind of walking we do as missionaries. My shoes that you sent me when i was in bamberg, ya the new ones are tearing as well. so i took my old two pairs as well as my new pair to a professional shoe maker place and he said that he has never seen anything like that on such a decent pair of shoes like eccos. so he is going to put glue in the cracks then sew them together and then cover the sole with a brand new sole. it costs twenty bucks a pair and so its going to be about 60 euro for the three pairs. I am wearing the new black ones that you sent me, they are not all the way cracked yet but they are starting. so ya. that will be thursday when i have to pick those up so if you could put money from my savings into my checking account for me that would be great.

Its good to hear that the weather there is great. its freezing cold here. THe weather is so gray and ugly. Not so cool in winter. Wien is a pretty city in the summer but in winter it just looks ugly. whateva. I really dig on the people here. i have such a love for them. We are working so hard and it tears me up inside when an investigator doesnt read in the book of mormon or come to church, but i love them so and i dont want them to lose this opportunity at eternal life. So what i usually do is spend ridiculuous amounts of time on my knees before bedtime and i give my whole heart might mind and strength towards helping them find the truth. Heidi is doing great and just to see her and how happy she is and the happiness that she has found through the gospel brings me infinite amounts of happiness. Sister Condie,

Josh wrote today and said that his brand new shoes are cracking.  Please have him take a picture of them BEFORE the repair man fixes them so that I can get them replaced.  This is how I understand it.  He is having the old shoes basically resoled along with one of the new pair, and wearing one of the new pair that hasn't quite started to rip.  Again I need pictures of the soles like last time and details of which shoe is being shown in each picture.  He said he is picking these up Thursday, so if you could contact Josh ASAP and have him go and get pictures ASAP.

MUTTI!!!!!!!!!!

Wow what a great stressful and wonderfully tiring week. I am so dead. I stressed so much that heidis baptism would go well. With elder simon here now he didnt have that strong of a relationship with heidi before her baptism and so he wasnt too stressed out, but as for me i have developed such a love (dont worry its christlike) for Heidemarie Pohorsky. So this week we started out great we had interviews with president. Elder simon and i had to plan a workshop that we would give four different times to the four different disttricts of our zone. that took the whole day and we didnt get the chance to eat anything, then we ran on that same day to have the baptismal interview with heidi. That went great then on the next day we had exchange with the wien 4 elders. We had several appointments in the middle of all these things. then we excahanged back together elder simon and i were together for 2 hours on a train ride to graz where we talked to a really cool guy named bernhard. He told me where i could get a super schick suit tailored and everything for about 200 euro. That would or could be something for christmas. but im not wanting to think about that right now because that means time is going by much to much to fast.

Speaking of everything going by too fast ja oktoberfest is already past and i only got to wear my lederhosen 2 times or so. But it was cool. In austria they dont have to much of a big party, because everybody in austria goes to Munich for the fest. But cool stuff we were in munchen as it was oktoberfest time. there were so many people going around in lederhosen and dirndls. Speaking of dirndls they are probably the best looking dresses that there is. my wife is totally going to have one. but anyhow.

WE were in graz, the elders there are not doing so hot and they havent found a new investigator for the past 6 weeks and they have only taught 1 lesson a week for the past transfer as well. so we got there, elder simon and i and after being together for about 2 hours we separated again adn tore it up in graz. we showed them how it is done. made out 6 appointments for them, built relationships with the ward and found new investigators and new potential investigators. than after leaving a wake of gospel truth in graz we made our way home and talked with a super cool lady for two hours on the train ride home. Her name is eva. She thinks that missionaries are awesome. She also wanted to come to heidis baptism but wasnt able to make it. WE have her information however, but with her we had the best conversation about the gospel and we were able to also have a good laugh. Super funny conversation. By this point it was already friday night. we met with the burgholzers a part member family. Christian is so cool. He really likes us and has such a great trust in us. He actually compared us with other missionaries that have been there earlier and said that he hopes we dont get transferred because we are so good.

saturday we met with heidi, she made us amazing food, and was excited about the baptism and a little bit nervous as well and so we just talked to her about that, and we practiced the baptism. then we planned a bit for the next week because we didnt get that done, and then we had to clean out the baptismal font. ya it was a little bit... unused for the past long time.

then we had an amazing sunday, the day of the baptism. I was a little nervous as well. But we had an amazing turnout. so many people came to the baptism. Lots of investigators that we invited and it just went really good. The musical numbers were unbelievable and the baptismal font here in wien 2 ward is uncomparable. it was made in mosiaic form from an artist member who tried to capture the feeling of a rising sun. The tiles on the wall are all hand placed and it looks just amazing. The speakers marvin till and Sister Wade a senior sister here spoke wonderfully. Then it came time for the baptism. I was stressed and nervous all up untill the point that my foot touched that warm water. It seemed as if the warmth of the water ran from the tip of my toe up my whole body, though i know that it was the Spirit of the Lord bearing witness to the holiness of the ordinance of baptism. i remembered in the clearest vision the meaning of my own baptism and the feelings i had there. i waded across the water to the other side to grab heidi by the hand and lead her down the steps into the water. She was crying, and smiling, her own tears adding to the water in the font. Silence. for a moment. I felt the spirit fill me. So amazing. I performed the ordinance of baptism and then let heidi slowly in the water. Her dress filled with air and i had to push her lower into the water. then i lifted her up an out of the symbolic grave. It was truly a wonderfull and spiritual experience.

I found time a little earlier before my study time this week and i took that time to paint Heidi a picture. A member had given me a pretty cool watercolor set a while ago, and i painted a pretty decent picture on that and wrote my personal thoughts and feelings and testimony on the backside for heidi, she said later aftter reading it that she loves me, and that she wants to adopt me. She is such a wonderful lady. After her baptism she gave her personal testimony and she said that she knows that her family just got a lot bigger, we adopted her. She bore her testimony and said that she knows that her family is there for her and that she would be there for the family as well.

Im so happy. Heidi said to me that she was eternally greatful. A lot of other members also expressed their thanks to me for being such a good elder.

I have been thinking about wanting to live here and study here after my mission. The relationships that i have made with people in salzburg, bamberg, innsbruck and especially here in wien are so amazing. i have expressed this desire to a lot of people here and they have told me that they would be willing to do anything for me. Heidi said that i could live with her other members have said that as well . Other members have offered me jobs. I have seriously pondered that. THey have also told me that my passion for the language and how good i have mastered it would be a waste if i didnt live here. I could really see that as a reality, living here and ya living. well my words that i have written cannot describe a thousanth of the feelings i have about the love for my mission and for the love for the people here. Family, friends, loved ones and relatives, brothers and sisters, i write to you this day, the fourth of oktober in the year of our Lord 2010, to say.....

WHOA!!!!!!! There is other people there in america who are mormons too!!!!! Whoa conference was such a schock! I cant believe how many people were in that conference center. That choir was amazing and the church is growing.!!!!!!! holy smokes i totally forgot how the church is like there in utah. i am amazed at how true the words were of the prophets and apostles who spake to us. I was praying that their words would be inspired so that our investigators who were there would feel the spirit and realize, through the answers that the talks gave to their questions, that the church really has been restored and that we have a living prophet today. So cool. I loved conference. I spent the entire time in the german translation. Elder Simon speaks good english but his german is better, because he is a german, and we had a ton of investigators who came and so i sat next to them and when they had questions i would answer them. I love german. I love being here. This is such a beautiful language. I remember writing you before, so at last general conference time and i said that i understood the talks, but i have noticed that i have even made more progress and that i understood even more this time. I could feel the spirit talking to me so strongly during the talks and i realize that the topics were also for me. So wonderful. Elder simon is my angel. He is funny and he wants to work hard and most of all he wants to be obedient. Thank goodness.
Hey thanks mom for the Email. So ya heidi is going to be baptised on the tenth. That is the tenth day in the tenth month in the year of our Lord 2010. cool. I am so stoked!!!!!! That is all i can think about. When i am not busy that is with something else my mind just wanders to how amazingly sweet and wonderful the spirit will be by her baptism. i have the clearest vision of it in my mind, and yet it is so hard to imagine that she is finally going to get baptised. I am so happy for her. My joy is brimming over. Like it says in the psalms "my cup runneth over, my cup runneth over" :)
THis weeek was great we got transfers out of the way. I got elder simon now. then right after he came we rode to munich adn had mission conference, or zone leader konference. That was awesome. we are going to prepare a little more for the upcoming interviews with president condie so that we can give a good workshop there and get the missionaries pumped. Im stoked. Nothing is better than being a missionary and i am diggin on it!!!!! oh cool thing as well is that we also have the opportunity to teach the priesthood class next sunday, Heidis baptism, and the priesthood class will be about... yup you guessed it baptism. but they asked us to do that about a month ago. that was before heidi said that she would get baptised. Inspiration? i think so. ANother cool thing is that Elder Paschen and i had planned also about a month earlier that Heidi would be ready to get baptised on the tenth of oktober and then she said that she wanted to be baptised then. Inspiration? AFFIRMATIVE. cool stuff. well we are super busy this week we have about 100 appointments and on top of that we have to go to graz to do an exchange with them. Its not going so well there and hopefully we can get them inspired and full of hope for the work. plus a non member who we are teaching right now wants to come down there with us and help us get them excited about the work of the lord. NOw how cool is that?

Sorry that i wont be able to write to much today. I wrote the highlights and most of everything else to dad adn devin and spencer so you can piece those all together if you want to to put it on the blog. it was a great week and i hope you had a great day and week as well. I found out about the camera. IT costs 30 euro to get it repaired. it is repaired and i just need to pay for it now. Hey!!!!!

GReat news!!!! but first you need to tell me how it is coming with the dating situation. But ya anyhow back to my great news. I love being a missionary and i love helping people. We have found a lot of new investigators this week through part member families. We have been teaching the husbands of two strong members in our ward. The two husbands after meeting with us and feeling of Gods love have shown excitement to learn more about the Gospel and find out if the book of mormon is actually true.

Plus heidi wants to get baptised. I have been waiting for this day since i came here to wien. We had an appointment with her and i committed her to be baptised on that first day and she said no. WE have worked hard with her and prayed that the holy ghost would open her heart and let her feel of the truth. He did. The holy ghost is real. He testifies of the Father and radiates his love. And in the words of heidi that is what it all comes back to is the love of the Father in everything. Its true. She has felt it. I LOVE YOU DEVIN. have a great week.

I love you so much!!!! That is really cool that you made spencer a priest. I hope that you have a great week this week. We went to the See Grotte this week for P. Day so i dont have too much time to write. It was really cool. It is Europes largest underground sea. It was really cool we got to take a boat ride 60 meters underneath a mountain!!!!! I hope that you have a great week. It was our stake conference here and i got to sing in the choir with Elder paschen. O and just to let you know i am not working with him anymore. There was an emergency transfer and he is getting transferred away to stuttgart. I am staying here as zone leader and I still get to work with a german. His name is Elder Simon. He is from Berlin. We have still been teaching heidi and she has decided on when she wants to get baptised. She said that the day for her is the 10th of October 2010. I am so excited for her. She has made so much progress and i am happy that she is making this step in her life. She has asked me to baptise her and confirm her. I am so excited. I really love this work. I love you pops.

Wow. that is such a cool story that. That is so wonderful that you did that for shaun and spencer. The amount of charity and pure love of Christ that i felt as i read that story was amazing. Thank you for being so amazing!!! MACON GEORGIA. is that like the russian georgia,or is that the southern kind of georgia, you know the Chicken and Waffles kind of georgia? Im so stoked for Brannen. he is such a stud. Tell him that i said that and that i really look up to him!!!! Tell spencer to watch out. A senior!!!!! in what class is spencer? that is crazy. he cant be so much of a playa. ha ha anyhow. Ya im still in wien with My ELder Paschen!!!!! We had a pretty good week. It was really successful but not as successful as it could have been. WE had a ton of appointments planned and made out with people that had showed interest, but then most of them fell through. I give my best and contact like crazy and make out as many appointments as i can, and then sadly they dont show up or dont let us in. It was a little tougher this week, because even though i am used to dissappointment, i dont let myself get dissappointed. however it is tough when it feels like you are going through it alone. There are still some differences between the old swiss zurich mission and the united mission of the Alpen land German speaking Mission. Mainly in obedience, adn discipline or dedication. Elder Paschen and i are trying to work through what is obedience and how President condie does things as compared to the old president. it makes it a little tough. Both of our goals are the same to help people come to Christ, but we have different directions of doing that. Its just that we are supposed to be examples for the zone in all areas of mission work (talking to people, obedience, talking to members) and i feel that i am carrying the example by myself. So we talked a lot this week about how we can be more of a team and do that better together. We have lots of fun together. and we are seeing success, its actuallysuper funny how well we get along together but how much we disagree. you would find it funny i do believe. but anyhow. WE have a great week ahead of us. Heidi is talking to all of her friends about how she wants to get baptised and if they would come to her baptism. She is getting closer and closer. I am so excited for her. She is really making super progress and she has a great strong testimony. She realizes it too. So cool. We got fed twice this week by a professional cook. His name is Alexander zeilinger. he is so cool. a great cook as well. I gotta get on to writing president. I love the work and I love you. Have a great week.

THat is a wierd greeting. Wow it sounds like you are having a great vacation. That is super cool. I am not jealous of the sand or the waves. That would be cool to hit up and do but i have more important stuff to do. you know like saving souls and what not. Coolest story this week i went on exchanges with Elder Ramage. He is from pleasant grove. He is in his first transfer with his trainer, and another elder who lives with him (Elder Ensign) told me that i need to go on exchange with him, because he was having a hard time with the work and that my attitude towards the work could help him. So Elder Paschen and i set up an exchange with the Elders from the wien 3 ward and we went to work. We had such an amazing experience together. They only had one appointment set up that we could go to so we pretty much had a full day of contacting. I was ok with that. Contacting is really awesome, there is only one thing better than contacting and that is teaching. But when you teach when you contact then you manage to have an awesome time. So we contacted like crazy. his german is not that great but we just talked to thousands of people. I gave him a couple tips and we went forth. and it came to pass that we found many of them who knew not God. We found two new investigators and we made out five appointments with other people. We also met a lady on the street. I think she fell in love with me because she wanted to make us thai food and i said that next time i was not going to be working with elder ramage, and she was like no way you have to come with you can bring your compainion as well come with as many people as you want just as long as you are there. so we went there a couple days later and she wanted to learn more about the book of mormon and we gave her one in thai and then she gave us thai food. I had requested massaman curry and she was so amazed that i knew what that was and so she made it for us. That was way cool.

So this was a really cool week we saw lots of awesome success but as we learn in the scrips there must be opposition in all things. it was pretty tough this week. Lots of people been hatin on us. A lady called the police on me, because i gave her son a book of mormon. he looked like he was 24. but his mom called me up after i gave him the book and after he came home with it and she probably thought we were a demonic sect and so she called me up and freaked out on me. two guys that didnt even know us tried accusing us of just being here in austria because we couldnt find work in america and that we are just trying to sell our religion. they made so many comments about how we are so horrible and how we just force people follow what jo smith just made up. It was a tough week. but i gave my best. I gave them the chance at hearing the gospel. I opened my mouth and did what i was supposed to do and i wont quit. They cant stop me. I just keep on trucking along. i am happy. I am also hungry. i am feeling a dönner. Its starting to get colder here. the leaves are changing color and everybody is preparing for the wintery death that awaits them. I have heard that winter in wien is super cold. but dont send handwarmers i have eight thousand from last winter still. thanks for all that you do. LOVE YOU!!!!!

Hello!!!

yup so im going to go check today and see how much it may cost to fix my camera. I dont know how much it might be. I hope at least that there is a little bit of money in my account. just let me know, how much i have.

this week was awesome. I am really tired. Elder Paschen and i, we get along really well, however i feel lately that i have been doing most of the work. He just kind of talks a lot and whines. He asks me why we dont have appointments on a certain day at a certain time and that pushes me to work harder to get appointments then, however he doesnt do anything to change the situation. He was in the former swiss mission and the president then had some different ideas than that which is in the white handbook about obedience so we have had a couple of discussions about that and how he thinks that since he hasnt heard anything different than what the old president said then he doesnt have to change that. Dont get me wrong, i love elder paschen. I have never seen so much success in my entire mission as i have seen this transfer, and i know that the Lord has blessed us greatly with that. Elder Paschen and i work grand together. The thing is, is that it is really draining physically and spiritually to try and be the example the whole time, in areas such as obedience and contacting people on the streets and in trains and stuff like that. The finding and appointment making part of the missionary work, as well as being an example of obedience to the other zone members feels like it lays all upon my shoulders. With teaching and whatnot Elder paschen is a genius, i love teaching with him. He can explain the Gospel and all the points of the teachings so wonderfully. I have learned so much from Elder Paschen as a teacher. At mission council we learned how to ask questions through the spirit, and as we practiced that, Elder Paschen asked the greatest question to Sister Condie so that we could find out her concerns and help her to overcome that. So we work great as a team he is an amazing teacher and i do the contacting and appointment setting along with teaching. Which turns out to work out pretty good. Just a little draining when he asks why we dont have appointments and why the member work is not going as good as we want it, and yet he doesnt do anything to fix it. So we are working on it, getting better and better each day. That is what this life is about. Making constant progress. Its great.

So ya we were in München for two days. Its really cool being there with all the leaders from the entire mission. So wonderful to learn and get experience from all the best teachers from the entire mission. We managed to have a good week although we were away from our area for two days. We had an exchange with the Wien 1 elders. And the assistents and Wien 4 elders. It was a super busy week and pretty stressful but i learned a lot.. I love you all and i am super greatful for all the support that you send my way in the form of thoughts and prayers, emails and love. i send my love back to you all. I have never been more greatfull to be on a mission than i am at this very moment. I wish you all however a wonderful time in california. You have to tell me all about it! :) You goin´ surfin`? love you all have a great week !!!!! peace out!!!!!!

I have not seen that much frosting in a long time. I bet it tasted so good. THey dont have frosting in such large amounts here. Perhaps that is why all people here think that all americans are obese. But then they look at me with my chiseled 100 pullups a day body and think that americans are awesome. I preach the Gospel. There is nothing better.!!!!!

Hallo Geliebten!!!!!

Diese Woche war unglaublich gut!!!!! Oh ich habe vergessen das ihr kein deutsch sprechen könnt. sorry. well this week was great. we had some awesome success. we found two new investigators and we are working with them now. we also had a whole bunch of fun. we worked so hard. I am doing good. I am super happy. we also had zone konferenz this week. that went great. we also had an austausch in graz. graz is a really cool city. I did a baptismal interview for a man there who the elders there are teaching. that was my first baptismal interview that i have given. I got a letter from Rüdiger Schneeberger. He thanked me especially in his baptismal announcement letter that he sent with it. It was so cool to hear from him adn how he got baptised. I will be forever friends with Rudiger. He is my brother. I am so happy that he made that step of baptism after i left bamberg. that was such a long time ago. wow. Time is really messed up here on the mission. All the missionaries that were my heroes are all starting to go home now. and now it seems that i am the one that is being looked up to. I want role models too you know!!!! ha ha that is why we have the scriptures. The scriptures are special ways that God talks to us. A quote that i heard somewhere is ," if you want to talk to God then pray, if you want God to talk to you then read your scriptures" I have really seen that that is true. We recieve so much revelation through our scriptures. Another funny thing is that i apparently recieve revelation in my sleep still. Elder Paschen is getting a little annoyed because of my sleep talking. Or as he calls it, sleep yelling. I declare repentance in my sleep, i teach in my sleep. Its awesome. Im awesome. well i would like to know how it is going with you as well. have a great week. this week we are going to The Wien Central Graveyard. super huge. lots of famous people buried there like Mozart, Falco (he sings the song Rock me Amadeus) and many others. the mormons have thier own space there as well along with other major religions. cool stuff. but i might not get too many pics from that because my camera is broken. we were trying to take a picture in a train on the way to graz and the camera got dropped and so the mechanical part that makes the lens extend is broken. so i gotta see how much that will cost to fix or when its cheaper i will just have to buy a new camera. WHOA!!!!!!!!!!

THis week was killer man!!!!!!! oh my goodness gracious!!!! WE had such a great week. So let me just tell you all about it. ELder packer gave a promise to all the missionaries a while ago and that is that if the missionaries start teaching more then they will become better more efffective teachers. So he promised that if the missionaries teach more than 15 lessons a week then the amount of baptisms in the area will double. So for the past couple of months that has been my goal personally and our goal together. Elder paschen and i worked especially hard to achieve that. And this week we finally achieved that. We taught 16 lessons and we have five people committed to baptism. I have never seen so much success in my entire life. WE are so stoked. THe work is going amazing. I absolutley love it. It is so hard to get people to commit to baptism and to get lessons at all. Especially here in europe. But for some reason the lord has been blessing us immensly. I have fought and kicked and worked hard my entire mission to help bring people to baptism and to help them come closer to their heavenly father and sometimes it all appeared to be wasted effort because the people here are, as many prophets of the book of mormon would call them, hardened and stiff necked. However we have seen that not all are lost not all are fallen. We have come to the knowledge that there are many people here that are open, whose hearts have been softened and whose spirits are contrite. I am so greatful that the lord has prepared these people for us to teach at this time. Evelyn Grabler, Gerd, Famos Idahosa, Dupe Itoham Idahosa, and alfred are the names of the special children of God that we are preparing for baptism at this point. They are all so cool. I love them all with all my heart. All that i desire for them is their salvation and eternal life and as it says in john 17:3 , "this is eternal life to know God and his Son Jesus CHrist" that is all we are helping them to do. Come to that knowledge. I would have to say that this week was the best of my mission. I love my companion. WE get along so well. It is great. WE talk all the time adn we talk about everything. ELder paschen. He is so great.

AS for home life and your questions. say hi back to patrick and hillary for me when you see them again. SChönbrunn is the pictures that you see attached. it is a palace here. one of the most beautiful things that i have everseen in my life. Even though when we got there last week it rained cats and dogs. It rained so hard that it soaked through my umberella. ya it was intense.

Devin didnt involve me. he didnt tell me anything. he just said that things are going rough again at home. He was only honest. you shouldn´t keep things from me mom. I am a member of this family too. i am here to help. I dont think about that crap during the week anyhow. I have to focus on other peoples salvation so it doesnt bother me and i dont get distracted. I have p-day so that i can "prepare" myself for the week. I can know what is going on at home and you can let me know what is going on, on p-day so that i dont have to walk in the darkness adn wonder what is going on with my family during the week. That would be distracting if i didnt know how you all were doing. That is why we write emails. Just think about it. If i didnt write you on a p-day, you would spend the rest of the week worrying about why i didnt write. whereas if i did write and you knew that i was ok you probably wouldn´t be as worried about how i was doing. All i am asking is a little communication. You cant do it all on your own. That is pride. LEt me also know. I am doing great. I am going on preaching the gospel with the power of the spirit and with the voice of a trump. The lord is on my side. and for that i am greatful.

helllo!!!!!!!!!!

THis week was off the Chain!!!! So sick!!!!! we worked our brains out. did service, tore out a jungle that was growing in a members backyard. Me and elder paschen have so much fun together. WE set two baptismal dates on saturday. These people are so prepared. we got a hold of a man that lived in bamberg that i had taught and i sent his contact information here a long time ago and the elders here could not get a hold of him. We got a hold of him here and he said that when he finds out that the book of mormon is true then he will be baptised because it couldnt have been just coincidence that i found him again. wow crazy. I cant believe how we are so guided by the Holy ghost to find these prepared people. I am doing good the work is going amazing. I make new friends everyday because i share with them how much the gospel means to me. The members here love us. They see that we work really good together and they are loving it seeing the success that we are hauling in.

I heard that it is going a little bit rough on the homefront. Wanna talk to me about it? im here for you mom.

Spencer has another birthday soon. i cant believe that. what does he want? Man thinking about that makes me feel old. I have been on my mission for a long time. It doesnt help that my comp makes fun of me all the time. he says that i am going to die soon (mission term of dying/ mission being over) he is so cool. he is a really funny guy. We talk pretty much about everything.

Crazy sauce. I saw the Bird family the other day. they took picture of me. That was so wierd. I totally forgot that there a whole other world there in america. I have just gotten so used to here that it all seems like it is gone there back at home. but i know its not. Hello beloved!!!!!! I love you all so much,

ha ha ha ha ha im so glad that you all got a good laugh out of my joke about the man in kentucky who is the proud new owner of his coleman grill. ya i was just being me. Dad that joke was almost as good as the ice 9 joke that we always had after watching that one movie. Well ya, sorry about last week that i didnt get to write. it was kinda crazy. there was construction on the train tracks to schneeberg and so we had planned to be back in time to go shopping and to send emails and whatnot but that didnt work out to well. so we didnt get to email last week adn we didnt get to go shopping for food. because we were so busy during the rest of the week. So we lived off of just the scraps of what we had in the fridge. but this week was also transfers. Man are transfers stressful. I had to stay at the wien trrainstation adn wait for elders adn sisters, and make sure that they all come and go at the right times. Elder paschen and Elder piscan however encountered troubles on their way here and came like three hours late. Apparently rocks fell on the tracks in tirol and they had to get out and take a bus to a different train station and then continue riding to wien. but i am lucky that they both came. I am staying here in wien. I am still zone leader. Elder blair got transferred away to stuttgart, the old swiss mission. The combination of the two missions is coming into effect. Which is really cool. My new companion his name is Elder Paschen. He is from hamburg. He was serving in the Swiss mission and i was serving in the Munich germany austria mission and now we both work together in the Alpine land german speaking mission. Its pretty cool. but i can tell that their president ran things in a little differently than president condie runs things and some missionaries dont want to make the change. Sad. but anyhow. we traveled a lot this week. we had to go to munich to have a special zone leaders council meeting. there is a new curriculum that is going to be coming out in the beginning of may and president wants us to help the mission get up to speed on these things and help the mission progress and start on this new curriculum as soon as possible. It is going to be a great change in the mission adn i am so glad that i get to help be a part of it. I kind of knew that this was coming and i am glad that i am prepared for it. My patriarchal blessing talks about it. This church really is true. We have it. this is it. the one and only true church on the face of the entire earth. Thanks to our loving heavenly father that restored it through a prophet. just as he did in earlier times. He always has given us prophets because he loves us. Mosiah 3,13. and i am so grateful for our prophet today. Thomas s. monson is the living prophet.

We worked hard on member relationships this week. And it has paid off. WE have a couple of appointments with members and they are wanting to give us referrals. im so stoked. that doesnt happen very often here. i have maybe gotten 3 or 4 refferrals on my whole mission. its just a different world here. it was a really good spritual week adn we worked way hard. I love this work. I owe it to my father in heaven. He sent his son for me, and it is the least i can do for HIm. I wish i could do more. i strive constantly to give my best to my Heavenly Father. Because i love him so very much. my favorite scripture for this week is DandC 6:36. Let us constantly look to the Lord. Let us keep our thoughts on Him. Then we will need not doubt or fear.

Dear Brother and Sister Adams,

I'm sure you are wondering why you didn't hear from Elder Adams yesterday. Please imagine the smile on my face and the chuckle in my voice as I tell you why. Apparently he and his companion took part in a preparation day activity that took longer than they had expected and they didn't return in time to send emails. Because it was their choice, they will have to wait until next week to email you. But as a mother, I didn't want you to worry when you didn't receive an email. He and his companion are two of our very finest missionaries, and we have total trust and confidence in them. Elder Adams is one whom we know will always be true and obedient. He leads by example and with great love and has been a great influence in our mission. He is beloved and respected by all who know him. Thank you for helping him to become what he is today. Hello!!!!!!

So i just wanted to first start out with a question. Can anyone digest corn? I just wanted to know if that is at all possible. Dont ask me why, the details of this week and that story would probably make it so that you will never eat corn again, which is what i have decided to do.

The garments are fine. I think that they are great and i am super greatful simply for the fact that you took the time to get them and send them to me. No i do not need anymore for a while i should be fine. As for deodorant. I think that i am stocked on deodorant for the next ten years. thank you mom for caring about me and my supply needs. Except for the fireworks. Those we are not allowed to have. White handbook p.21-22. period. It was funny i had a good laugh about it but you know what i used to do with fireworks. I dont think that would be too acceptable if i would act like that on my mission. Ha ha.

So i got a new credit card because someone wanted to buy the new coleman grill system complete with grease drip tray and 12 ounce budweiser cup holder in kentucky. you might be a redneck if.... ya ok so that is cool. But we have a problem then. that means that i have to activate this new card that i have here and it says that i am supposed to call the 1-800 number from my home phone. that is how it is written in the letter that is sent to me. so you might have to call it for me. because i dont think i am allowed to call america from my church paid cell phone. so you might need some information for the card here is the number you need to call. 1-800-562-1568. actually before i go sending all the information accross the internet so that it could get stolen again. see if you can talk to zions and find out what the deal is. i dont need my card for a while.

with the bike i just wanted to know if you were going to get the money for that. i am not going to buy a new bike but i thought you could still get the money for the fact that my bike was stolen. that is all i was suggesting. mom its not that hard to understand. I checked my grammar and everything this time.

Ok enough with worldly stuff. THIS WEEEK WAS AWESOME. I have been giving it my all and trying to do my best here in this area and it is starting to show. We commited a new investigator that we found to baptism. Her name is Evelyn. She wants to get baptised on the 22 of August. I am stoked to be teaching her. We are also teaching some other cool investigators.. But as for this week we had interviews with the President. And as every district came to wien we taught a workshop and tried to get them pumped about ward mission plans and the ward mission process and how they could get that started in their own wards and that was great. some of the missionaries in our zone are going home this transfer and that made it a little funner because they were not to committed to following through with the things that we taught. but all is well.

I love this ward that i am in. Especially br. and Sis. Hones. He compliments me so much. He is blind but he tells me that he is gratefull to have a missionary here with the kind of excitement that i have. He said that he hasnt seen that in a while. But i talked with his wife in church the other day and she told me that she used to be a professional climber. Ya after church we talked for a while and i they are going to be inviting us over for dinner this week and then we will take them and shape them into awesome member missionaries. That is the best way to do missionary work, even though i am really good at contacting people and making out appointments its a lot easier and a lot more effective to just get refferals from members. that is my awwesome conclustion for the week. That is how we got evelyn. she is the fiancee of a less active member who called us up and said, "i am a less active member, i would like you to come and teach me the lessons again so that i can gain a testimony of the book of mormon" not even an exaggeration. so cool his name is manuel. he is really cool.

WE also had an austausch in graz this week. Sorry austausch means exchange. You should really just get used to me speaking german. you been brushing up on your german skills? anyhow. Graz is a really wonderful city. It is so different. it is really a difference to see how people think and act in a city that is smalller than wien. Really cool cool experiences there. adn on the ride home in the train. we spoke to the people that were sitting in the cabin with us in the train. We spoke to them for two hours. That was so cool. they now think that the mormons are awesome and that we are so cool because we give two years of our lives to serve the Lord. Lots of people apparently think that. The members that we visited this week all set family mission plans and all the kids voted that it be a part of the plan that the missionaries come over more often. Elder Blair and I are rocking this area. Its slowly progressing. but that is what i lilke. constant progress. I love the work and i love you. Have a great week!!!!!

Yea tis a gift to be a missionary when you set a baptismal date and when you are giving your best then satan just gives your credit card to some hillbilly in kentucky. oh well. im diggin on it. Workin is the best. Hey well that is cool that you are staying busy with the best buy. that is soo cool. you know that you are going to be the best seller at bestbuy because you were a fulltime missionary. Dear Sister Adams,

Thank you for your email. I just spoke with your great missionary son and informed him it was a good thing he had already purchased lederhose since he wouldn’t be able to buy any lederhosen on Monday because his credit card was being canceled. J He said, “Not to worry. I’ve got enough money for the time being.”

Thank you for sending us such a great missionary. We saw him on Tuesday. He’s as happy as ever.
